What Do You Do When You Work with a Controlling Leader?

Yesterday’s post 10 Reasons Not to Call Yourself an Empowering Leader has gained some attention in the comments and outside discussions. Apparently there are many people that find themselves in controlling environments and don’t know what to do about it. (Be sure to read the post HERE.) Obviously just recognizing the problem with out trying to find some solutions is not much help.
Here is one question someone posted that may summarize some of the concerns:
What would you recommend to someone who is part of a team with a leader who is exhibiting many or even most of these characteristics? (Of failing to empower)
I’d love to hear from my readers. I have a post I’m working on about leading up, but I’m curious how some of you have or would handle working in an environment where a leader refuses to empower other leaders. I may incorporate some of your ideas in my upcoming post.
What ideas do you have to offer? Have you been in this environment? How can you help others dealing with this dilemma?
Share your stories! It would also be great for you to RT this post so we can gain plenty of insights. Thanks.
