It’s Football Time In Tennessee (I’m going to the game!)

By Ron Edmondson on Friday, September 11th, 2009 | No Comments »

University of TennesseeI am going to my first University of Tennessee game tomorrow.  A couple in our new small group gave me a very orange shirt, so I’ll be prepared.  They are playing UCLA, so it should be a good game.

I have resisted going to these games in the past, even though I love college football, because I’m not a big crowd guy.  Everything I hear about it being “crazy” and “wild” and “so many people” doesn’t necessarily motivate this introvert.  I am especially excited about this season, however, and this game for a few reasons:

  • I love change.  Watching a new coach develop a new program is exciting to me.
  • I love that Coach Kiffin is working with his father.  That must be a tremendous privilege.  I would love to work for one of my boys someday.
  • I love making my wife happy.  She loves big crowds, so I would go if only for her.
  • I will enjoy rubbing the fact that I’m going into the faces of those in my office who would love to trade places with me for a day.  (I know that’s not kind of me, but you probably don’t work in my office!)

Go Vols!  It’s football time in Tennessee!
