Exciting Staff Changes at Grace Community Church

By Ron Edmondson on Tuesday, May 19th, 2009 | 1 Comment

Sunday night at Cross Street Live we shared the awesome news that we are adding a full-time staff person to lead Cross Street, our children’s ministry.  Adam Bayne, the brother of our own Michael Bayne, will join our staff late this Summer in this role.  Adam is currently a 4th grade elementary teacher and loves leading children.  His heart is telling him and his wife Marissa that it is time to do this in the context of the church.  Adam is anxious to connect with children and their parents in the coming months.  You can find him as a friend of mine on Facebook if you have an account.  We will be sharing more about him in the coming months.  We are excited about the future growth under Adam’s leadership. (I plan to post soon about the idea of having brothers serve together on the same staff.  We think it is  a plus for our ministry.)

Christy Crosby, who has led Cross Street since the church began, has been and will continue to be a valuable part of the talented Grace Community Church staff.  Christy and her husband Steve were in the original core that launched our church. Christy was one of the first to volunteer to lead children’s ministry. She has done an amazing job, but the position has outgrown what a person can do part-time and Christy’s first calling is to be a mom.  Christy’s heart for Grace and her skills for administration remain valuable to us as a church, so she will be transitioning to a new role in the coming months of helping us with organizational efficiency.  She will be working directly with Chad and me to develop and coordinate systems, monitor goals and objectives, maintain a church calendar, and other duties as assigned.  The best way to describe her role is that she will be a glue that holds us all together.  We have an extremely busy staff and we usually run in many different directions. Christy will help us maintain a sense of connection and avoid running over each other as a staff.  Her task is going to be huge, but the rewards will be noticeable and lasting and are much needed in a fast-growing church our size.
