Potential Bank Phishing Via Cell Phones

By Ron Edmondson on Thursday, April 2nd, 2009 | No Comments »

Be careful. There may be a phishing scheme in progress using cell phone numbers.

I received a call on my cell phone today stating that there was a security problem with my debit card.  It was a 514 area code.  I Googled the number and apparently this number is part of a scheme as it has been reported many times.

As you should know, never give out your account number or any other personal information over the phone, by email, etc. to people who claim to be from your bank.  Banks don’t make phone calls or send emails like this.   Thankfully, I hung up the phone.
